The 10 contests

Team projects are assessed across ten contests.

Proposals are assessed by a technical jury on 10 integrated criteria:

  1. Architecture

    Local bioclimatic strategies, aesthetics, functionality, comfort and integrated renewable energy.

  2. Energy performance

    Highly efficient buildings with on-site solar generation, grid resilience and PBE Edifica simulations.

  3. Engineering

    Innovative electrical, mechanical and structural systems focused on Zero Energy operation.

  4. Environmental comfort

    Priority on passive operation, thermal, acoustic and visual comfort, and indoor air quality.

  5. Water management

    Efficient consumption, rainwater harvesting, use and infiltration, and wastewater treatment and reuse.

  6. Life cycle

    Lower carbon emissions, durability, waste reduction and circular economy principles.

  7. Urban integration

    Universal accessibility, local biodiversity, positive community impact and a gender perspective.

  8. Economic feasibility

    Affordability, operation and maintenance over its service life, and replicability potential.

  9. Climate resilience

    Mitigation and adaptation strategies designed around future climate scenarios.

  10. Innovation

    Disruptive models and technologies, plus the ability to engage and inspire the public and the jury.
